The History of Hanoi Railway Station

Initially serving the Hanoi–Lang Son route, it soon expanded to connect Hanoi with Hai Phong and Lao Cai. By 1936, the station became the starting point of the Trans-Vietnam railway, stretching 1,700 km to Saigon.

During the Vietnam War, the station played a vital role in troop transportation. It suffered severe damage during the 1972 bombings but was later rebuilt, showcasing a more modern architecture.
