Vietnam visa extension – How to extend your visa with Le Travel
30/11/2024
If you plan to stay in Vietnam longer than your visa allows, you have two options: exiting and re-entering the country or applying for a visa extension without leaving. Many travelers choose the visa extension option due to its convenience and cost-effectiveness.
What is a Visa Extension?
A visa extension allows foreign visitors to extend their stay in Vietnam without the need to exit the country. By obtaining an extension, an additional stamp will be placed in your passport, indicating the new duration of your stay.
Important: Visa extensions apply to single-entry visas only.
Requirements for Foreigners to Extend a Vietnam Visa
To apply for a visa extension in Vietnam, foreigners must meet the following criteria:
Valid Passport: Your passport must be valid to complete the visa extension process.
Temporary Residence Registration: Foreigners must be registered with the local police in the area where they reside.
Valid Visa: Your current Vietnam visa must still be valid at the time of application.
Sponsorship by a Vietnamese Company: For business, work, or investment visas, a local company must sponsor the extension process.
No Criminal Record: Foreigners must not have committed any crimes during their stay in Vietnam.
Why Choose a Visa Extension?
Legal Continuation of Stay: It’s the only way to remain in Vietnam legally after your visa expires without leaving the country.
Avoid Penalties: Prevent being blacklisted by Vietnam Immigration due to overstaying.
Convenience for Business or Travel: Allows you to manage your work or travel plans smoothly without interruptions caused by exiting and re-entering Vietnam.
