Address: Center of Vietnamese Craft Village Quintessence, Bat Trang Pottery Village, Gia Lam District, Hanoi
Opening Hours:
Bat Trang Pottery Village was founded through the collective efforts of 23 families who moved from their original hometowns to establish a community dedicated to pottery. Today, 19 of these founding families still practice their ancestral craft, continuing to contribute to the village's enduring success.
In recognition of this rich heritage, Ms. Ha Thi Vinh, a 15th-generation descendant of the Ha Huu family, spearheaded the creation of the Center of Vietnamese Craft Village Quintessence. Her mission was to honor the legacy of Bat Trang's artisans and preserve the traditional values of the village. Bat Trang Pottery Museum now stands as a result of her dedication, serving as a symbol of cultural preservation and a celebration of traditional Vietnamese ceramic art.
Among Hanoi’s iconic attractions, Bat Trang Pottery Museum stands out with its seven interconnected, funnel-shaped structures. The walls feature multi-layered patterns inspired by the pottery wheel, a signature tool of ceramic artisans. The museum’s primary earthy brown hue symbolizes the clay used in ceramic production and the alluvial soil of the Red River, emphasizing its deep connection to Bat Trang’s heritage.
